They offer excellent reliability in a compact, cost-effective design. The sensor is also a proven performer for moisture protection and freeze-thaw cycling. Lead wires can be set to any length and color to match your requirements. The plastic shell can be made from Copper, Stainless Steal PBT, ABS, or most any material that you need for your application. The internal thermistor element can be selected to meet any resistance-temperature curve and tolerance.

How does it works

The AC sensor on your thermostat is located near the evaporator coils. Indoor air moving toward the return vents passes by the sensor and coils. In turn, the sensor reads the temperature and checks if it matches what you’ve set on the thermostat. If the air is warmer than the desired temperature, the sensor will activate the compressor. This is where your system blows cool air into your living spaces. If the air passing the sensor is cooler or at the same temperature as what’s set on your thermostat, the compressor—and your AC unit—will shut off.

The Usual Sensors Used In an AC System

It should be noted that there are a number of temperature sensors: one on the discharge side, an air temperature sensor, a humidity and temperature sensor, a clip-on temperature sensor on the suction line and a clip-on sensor on the return bend.
